Virginia ABA Technician Training Requirements
This program aims to equip candidates with a robust foundational understanding of applied behavior analysis, emphasizing Autism treatment and Person-Centered approaches. Tailored for workforce development to address an immediate service gap, it establishes the groundwork for advanced education in ABA and Autism. Notably, four hours of the program are dedicated to Ethics and Professional Behavior. The online, self-paced, distance learning format encompasses 45 hours of coursework, 2 hours of instructor-led exercises, 15 hours of on-the-job training, and a 2-hour final assessment.

Task and competency lists cater to BICC Board Certified Behavior Technician, QABA Applied Behavior Analysis Technician, and BACB Registered Behavior Technician.
The program, independently offered, meets the 40-hour training requirements for all three credentials.

Program Details:
Equivalent to 45 hours of classroom time and worth 3 semester credits.
Online, self-paced, asynchronous distance learning course.
Instructor: Dr. Michael Weinberg, PhD, BCBA-D, available through email, chat, and the embedded Mentor System.
Program Requirements:
Supervisor recommendation required.
Completion of 45 hours of coursework with instructional support and probe quizzes at a 90% criteria pass rate.
Four instructor-led exercises overseen by a BCBA-D.
Verification of a minimum of 15 hours of on-the-job training and skills demonstration by a licensed or board-certified supervisor.
Standardized psychometrically sound final assessment with a passing score of 72.67%.
Completion of an online survey for continued quality assurance and management.
Agreement to terms and conditions, including the Code of Ethics, Supervision Requirements, and Role of a BTL1.
Inclusion in the public registry for third-party verification.
Eligibility Confirmation:
Verification of a minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
Confirmation of being at least 18 years old.
