The ABCs of Autism
You could be the first person to provide your opinion.
Please read before you buy. This eBook was written in 2011 and reflects the diagnostic framework of that time. Two things have changed since. First: in 2013 the DSM-5 combined the separate diagnoses this book describes — autistic disorder, Asperger’s syndrome, PDD-NOS and childhood disintegrative disorder — into a single diagnosis, Autism Spectrum Disorder, with three support levels. If your child was diagnosed recently, that is the diagnosis they have. Second: the book’s prevalence figures are from 2011. The current CDC estimate is about 1 in 31 children (CDC ADDM Network, 8-year-olds, 2022 surveillance year). Also note: the book describes Rett syndrome as an autism spectrum disorder. It is no longer classified as one — it is a distinct genetic condition (MECP2) that is diagnosed and managed separately. Our free guide covers all of this in current terms: free ABCs of Autism.
The ABC's of Autism eBook has been written specifically for those looking to obtain a broad understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This book is a must-read for parents of newly diagnosed children and anyone else who loves and provides care for these children, including special education teachers. Each page is full of useful and straightforward information to help you better understand this complex disorder.
Information is power. The ABCs of Autism is a great tool to help demystify this disorder so that you can begin to make informed decisions regarding a child's care. A must-read for everybody!
