This 2020 English social story describes Thanksgiving visits, travel, family gatherings and shared meals. It includes examples of different foods, saying grace, expressing thanks and telling parents when a gathering feels too loud.
Available from: Special Learning.
Material context: The food passage includes an expectation to taste food even when the child does not want to.
The story moves between hosting visitors and going to another home, with car, train and airplane travel mentioned along the way. It contrasts larger and smaller family gatherings and gives meal examples beyond turkey and ham.
Later pages introduce trying a new food, prayers before a meal and saying thank you to people who help. The closing sequence describes telling parents about noise, finding a quiet place and returning to play or television.
