I wish there was more of a perspective to adequately receive payment from funders for things such as supervision and ethical delivery of services. I believe that to be more the heart of the issue.

Interesting panel for an important topic! It feels good that this was brought up and talked about. Something I have thought about several times and will continue to think about.

This is an important topic and I'm glad I purchased this webinar. Dr. Bailey said something about those in the field of ABA who are violating the ethics as "not caring about the code" (not an exact quote). I beg to differ. Those in violation of the ethical standards care very much about th code; they care about getting around it and avoiding any punishment contingencies. In my experience working for 2 companies that I left for some of the reasons discussed in the webinar, those violating the code knew the code quite well. It is not ignorance. They manage to fly under the radar and put fear into the hearts of their staff. I have been in the field for a number of years, mostly in the area of severe behaviors, and I will most likely be leaving it due to the issues discussed in the webinar. I have also watched as salaries for BCBAs in my state have steadily declined, while the liability level for an individual BCBA has steadily increased. Working for a company or agency, I still feel I must purchase additional professional liability insurance. Start my own company/practice? Sure, but why put up that much capital and endure that much risk when I can work elsewhere, often for more money, without subjecting my family to vicissitudes of this field. It has become a volatile, risky, and stressful field where one's ability to do good as a BCBA is often muted, at best. You will end up with a lot of newly minted, inexperienced BCBAs who do nt yet know any better.
