Halloween Kit 2026

Halloween can be a lot. Costumes, dark streets, doorbells, strangers, candy. This kit shows your child the night ahead of time, step by step.

It's for parents and caregivers of an autistic child, and for educators getting a class ready. Start in the days before Halloween.

What's in the download

• Start here. One page that tells you what to use, and when.
• Social story: "Trick-or-Treat Night." An 11-page story of the night. You fill in your child's name, costume and support person.
• Step-by-step teaching guide. Two pages: getting used to the costume in small steps, practicing the door routine, taking breaks, and how much help to give and when to give less.
• Visual schedule. The night in pictures, in order.
• Token board. Earn a token at each house. Five tokens, and your child picks a treat.

Everything except the Start here page comes in two versions: color, and a lighter version that's easy on ink. That's 9 PDFs in all.

Two videos

• A short how-to video, about 5 minutes, for you: how to use the kit and teach the night.
• The social story video, free, to watch together.
